SHAY APPOINTED TO NEW OREGON SYMPHONY DEVELOPMENT POSITION

Portland, Ore. Filling the newly created position of Oregon Symphony Director of Corporate Development, Jed Shay, previously an independent contractor managing major events including the Symphony's Gala concert, joined the Symphony full time Nov. 16, Symphony President Tony Woodcock announced.
An experienced events manager, Shay was previously a development consultant for Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, where he was responsible for the creation and implementation of targeted special events and the development of public awareness strategies.
"His experience in managing events as well as communicating in the corporate arena will be a great asset for this newly created position, responsible for corporate contributions and sponsorships," said Leslie Tuomi, Oregon Symphony Director of Major Gifts and Foundation Services.
Also experienced in public relations, marketing strategies and video production, Shay worked as a supervising producer with Tri-Crown productions from 2000 to 2001, creating and developing a fitness television program for Gold's Gym. Prior to that Shay was Managing Partner, Director and Producer of Entertainment Enterprises and Director of the Karen Gaffney Foundation, where he was responsible for developing public relations nationwide and produced, wrote and directed an hour-long educational video recognized as a benchmark for families raising a child with Down Syndrome. Shay also has been a restaurant owner, freelance writer and has held public relations/marketing positions with the Los Angeles Visitors Bureau, Lynne Deutch Ltd. and Sheraton Premier Hotel.
Shay received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California in 1983.
In his
position as Director of Corporate Development, Shay will be responsible
for corporate gifts and sponsorships with a focus on multi-year commitments,
benefit framework and fulfillment, and the management and oversight of events.
