Endowing a chair or a program provides reliable ongoing funding to underwrite key Oregon Symphony programs and retain outstanding musicians. Naming these chairs or programs offers a tremendous opportunity to recognize the donor (or to honor a person or cause dear to the donor) in a most caring and prestigious manner. Depending on the size of the gift, chairs or programs may be named for a period of years, or in perpetuity. The amount necessary to endow a chair or program is based on the principal sum of money required to generate interest earnings (calculated at 5% per year) to pay the expenses of that position activity, which are not covered by ticket revenue.
