Youth Concerts
Oregon Symphony youth concerts provide high quality artistic experiences in music for students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our developmentally appropriate family of Youth Concerts offers comprehensive, sequential learning experiences that encourage active participation by students and teachers alike. We believe that music is an essential and equal part of the total school curriculum and, while our concerts cannot replace sequential arts education curriculum in the school, they are designed to help schools meet and exceed the Oregon Department of Education's Arts Content Standards curriculum objectives and deepen your work in the classroom.

Kinderkonzerts, Grades K-2
What are Kinderkonzerts?
Small ensembles of Oregon Symphony musicians, with help from our narrator, bring the orchestra off the stage and into schools for an up-close musical experience where children are active listeners. This series of four 30-minute performances is designed to introduce the four instrument families of the orchestra to students K-2. Kinderkonzerts are held at three Portland-Metro Area host locations.

Classical Capers!
Strings: Opposites
A sunny day after weeks of rain, making noise after being quiet, or a restful night after an action-packed day… opposites are what make life interesting and fun. Join our string players as they explore musical opposites and see how they work together to create an exciting spectrum of sound
Woodwinds: Song Soup
Not only are our woodwind players good musicians, but they’re good cooks, too. Join them as they throw together their secret recipe, Song Soup, by mixing the special ingredients of melody, tempo, and harmony to serve up a very tasty and fun concert—the perfect beginning for a rainy day!
Brass: Brought to you by the letter B!
A good friend has been kind enough to help us with this concert… the letter B! What words begin with B? Balloon, Barn, Bug… BRASS! Hear our brass instruments buzz like bees and bounce like bears in this boisterously entertaining concert.
Percussion: Comedian’s Gallop
From the galloping sound of woodblocks to the magical chime of a triangle, hear how percussion instruments can create exhilarating sound effects that make an ordinary story come alive.
